What happened today

Tried to turn Facebook posts and an hour-long memory video into something people can actually see without logging in. Copied links. Facebook ate a long draft once. The memory from two years ago has a link; the new update written on top of it is a different post. Share links look public on the phone and still open a login wall for anyone outside the app.

So a lot of what was already marked Public never left Facebook.

The practical plan

1. Keep Facebook as conversation, not as the archive.
2. When Wi-Fi exists, put long videos where they play logged-out (YouTube unlisted or Internet Archive). Loom already worked for training clips.
3. Notion page per topic: old post + link + a short what I think now.
4. When a computer and internet are back: download Facebook data, pull the unique videos, then do the same in batches.
5. The old phone still exists and was never cloud-backed-up. Do not factory-reset it.

Losing the work

It is heartbreaking when everything gets deleted. Schoolwork, writing, apps worked on for months or a year. Zip drives before GitHub. Philosophers nobody heard of. Frankl reconstructed what was taken.

The thought still happened. Saving a copy is for the living who may want the words again.

Pipes and extra doors

No one group or class should own the only pipe — company, party, church, or platform. Good people still sit inside bad patterns. Groupthink, face-saving, and incompetence will shut a door as fast as a villain.
